The most convenient ferry crossing is arguably the one which is operated by Red Funnel.  The crossing runs between Southampton to East Cowes and takes approx. 1 hour. 

To find the quickest and easiest routes avoiding major road works etc, you will need your postcode and that of Aisthorpe Farm, which is PO30 2NB.  Simply enter them into the AA route planner and a map and specific directions will be generated for you.
